The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences (FHSS) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is an official partner in research and technology development for the Chinese Olympic Committee for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The collaboration also includes PolyU’s creation and provision of a new programme for retiring and retired Chinese national athletes, details as follows:

• the program comprises sports science, sports health, sports rehabilitation, and conditioning and athletic training courses;
• to enable graduates to pursue careers in physical training, strength conditioning, personal fitness or sports rehabilitation in Chinese provinces;
• to enable graduates to go on to further studies to obtain professional qualifications in related fields locally or abroad such as in the U.S.
